Morgan 8"x10" oil

This painting is one that I painted on the second rainy day in the Phil Starke workshop.   I found out that he is equally as good with the figure as he is with landscape.   He is a great painter and instructor and maybe some day I can take a landscape workshop from him in which it does not rain.   This sketch was painted in  about one and a half hours.

Juniper Beach, Ohio River 9"x12" oil sketch

Ok, quit your laughing, this was the painting I did outside at the Phil Starke Workshop here  in Louisville KY this past weekend. Phil is a wonderful artist and a very good teacher.   It was unfortunate that it rained the whole weekend, except for this afternoon on the first day which was mostly overcast with the sun coming out a little.   This is not a good painting and as you can see I have a long way to go but you have to start somewhere!   And I am baring it for all to see.   Ok, you can continue to laugh and point.

Beth 8"x10" oil

The day started with me lazily getting out of bed fixing coffee and sitting at my computer and it was not until 9:15 did I realize it was FRIDAY!!    and I had to be at the "Go Figure Group" place in half an hour.  Luck for me I was dressed and ready to go, just had to wrap my mind around where the lost day went and pack my paints.    Once I got there things started to fall into place.   Here is my attempt for the day.

"Two for tea" 8"x6" oil

Sold
Continuing with my white on white paintings.   I could not resist putting in a bit of russet color.  It has cooled off here and this morning it was in the low 50's  so hot tea seemed the way to go.

White on white 6"x8" oil

Last Friday I took my computer to the Apple store because the disc drive was not working properly.  A new part had to be ordered and the first one they got in was defective so I just got it back today!   I have almost forgotten how to post.  I have been obsessed lately with painting white objects on white backgrounds.   I was wanting to put in something red in this one but stuck to my plan.  White on white.

Black & white 5"x7" oil

Sold
The weather has turned cool here and the sky is overcast.   A very grey day so I guess it inspired this grey painting.

Sprouting Spout 6"x6" oil

Sold
Sprouting Spout, say that 10 times in a row.
I started this daily painting venture because I was inspired by artist Carol Marine.   I follow her blog daily and  she is a wonderful person and artist.  She lives in Austin TX and  I found out a couple of days ago that their house and neighborhood were burned to ashes due to the drought they are having.

Blue eyed stranger amid Buckeyes 6"x6" oil

Sold
The buckeyes rolled in and surrounded the Blue Eyed stranger.  What a curious creature they thought, it is so shiny and blue!
The Buckeye is an acorn from a small southern tree and is carried for good luck and to ward off bad luck even today. The Indians had stones they carried called worry stones and the white man had his own worry stone in the Buckeye acorn.

Liz 6"x6" oil

Recently I purchased a small book "100 faces" by artist Karin Jurick and it inspired me to paint this small profile.   I don't know if I could ever be so bold as she is in her painting with her luscious paint strokes and color.   This is my version, a little more sedate.

I'm a little teapot 6"x6" oil

Sold
Looks like the pear is sitting on top of the teapot and singing "I'm a little teapot short and stout..."  Clearly this pear has been into the wine.
