The model today brought a mask to wear which was great fun to paint.  This is almost a two hour effort.   I am happy with this one.   For once I used enough paint and did not overwork it.

At first I thought the mask was my favorite part but after really looking I saw the mouth was simply amazing and looks as if could talk to me.
What was is Sargent was reported to have said?....
A portrait is a painting with something a little wrong with the mouth...
Well not in this painting, dear Claudia, you nailed it just right!
