"Two cherries and a blue plate" 6in x 6in oil painting

I just love it when the two cherry stems are still attached to each other.   Makes me feel hopeful.  When I paint the set-up on a white cloth I tend to see color in the white so I thought I would paint that in today!

"One cherry, one bowl, one spoon" 6in x 6in oil painting

I am trying a more minimal approach with more brushwork and palette knife work.   It was fun just to concentrate on color value and brushstrokes.   Of course, composition is the #1 decision to be made.

"In a white T" 10 in x 8 in oil painting

The play of warm and cool light on the model's face today was very inspiring.    Lavaski is a great model!

"The Getaway" 6 in x 6 in oil painting

I believe I have said this before,  I love painting cherries!   They were trapped in the cup and then all of a sudden the cup tipped over and they all made their getaway!     Can't you just see them all rolling out and escaping?

"Blue Headband" 14x11 in oil painting

This is my attempt for this morning.   I love the challenge of painting from a model in a limited amount of time.    After everyone left, or rather after I had lunch, I wiped off the face and simplified it.

"Red and White" 8x8 in oil painting

I love having the simplicity of using just red and white... well the white is not really white because there are other colors to make it come alive.   As you all know, cherries are one of my favorite things to paint.

"Lilacs in a vase" 8x8 in Oil painting

Please click here to view pricing information.

Having these lilacs in the house makes me want a lilac bush in my yard.  The flowers are small and when I took off my glasses to paint them all the pink ran together.

I am thinking of giving a figurative workshop and will announce it soon.

"Kalin in white" 14x11 in oil painting

I do like the way this one turned out.    As you know they don't usually turn out to be "keepers".  Or maybe you don't know because the ones that don't turn out well never get posted!   I am just sneaky that way.

"Three Iris" 6x6 in oil painting

There are so few flowers in my garden that I feel I must paint the ones I have.    In this painting I tried to paint the different values of the iris color trying not to paint every detail.   I feel that I am still learning to paint.    Thank you for watching my art.

"Bicycle III" 6x6 in oil painting

This is an experiment in color.  Continuing my bicycle series which as it turns out is a humbling experience.  I am not sure this is working but I am posting my efforts anyway.  The opposite color of cad yellow is ultramarine violet.  Oh well, I will try again tomorrow.    Thank you for following my art.

"Tying her laces" 14x11 in oil

Today's experiment started with painting in a dark background in the shape of the image then painting only the things that were in the light.   I had to put in a lighter background where the dress was in shadow so it would show up.  It was fun to do.   I think it is good to approach it differently sometimes and break away from the way I usually approach a painting.  Of course it doesn't always work out but making the effort is always a learning experience.   One way or the other you learn something.
